We are now asking local landowners and those with buildings suitable for conversion to come forward and work with us
Although we have established a list of young people and families who are in need of housing, we currently don’t have any affordable housing where they can live. These people have strong connections to East Bergholt, but can’t afford to rent or buy here.
House prices in the village are high, and those young people who don’t earn ‘city money’ are being priced out of the market. We are now asking local land and property owners to come forward and work us. If you have unused buildings or land, we might be able to transform them into homes to serve the community.
Our end goal is to create a portfolio of affordable housing for people with strong connections to the village. This will be of mixed tenure types with low running costs. The rental income generated will make the CLT self-sustaining. The homes will always be owned by the CLT and will become assets of the community. This way, we hope to develop sustainable community living for generations to come
